# Japanese v1.0.0 (TV)

The **Japanese TV masters (v1.0.0)** are the first masters of Sonic X.

They were used for the TV Tokyo broadcast (01-52).

Both [sponsor cards](https://chaotix.tv/books/notions/page/sponsor-card) were present, although trimmed from most reëncodes of the original files.

A text reading “When watching anime, please watch it at a good distance from the TV in a well-lit room.” is present at the start of every episode.

### Episode 16

The last 30 seconds of [episode 16](https://chaotix.tv/books/episodes/page/episode-16) are very different from future masters. The first half is a [preview](https://chaotix.tv/books/notions/page/preview) of [episode 17](https://chaotix.tv/books/episodes/page/episode-17), while the second half is an advertisement for the Hi-Spec DVDs.

### Preservation

The original [transport stream (TS)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG_transport_stream) files are lost. Mostly videos that have been trimmed to the `24:35` conventional length are to be found anymore. Some recordings have the TV timestamp on the top-left corner, while others do not.

# Japanese v1.1.0 (Web)

The **Japanese web masters (v1.1.0)** are an evolution of the [Japanese TV masters (v1.0.0)](https://chaotix.tv/books/masters/page/japanese-v100-tv).

They are the first masters to include [season 2](https://chaotix.tv/books/episodes/chapter/season-2).

They were used for:

- the 2009 TMS uploads (26, 53-78);
- the AniTV release (01-78);
- the U-Next release (01-78);
- the Bandai Channel release (01-78);
- the Netflix release (01-52)—the audio of episodes [26](https://chaotix.tv/books/episodes/page/episode-26) and [52](https://chaotix.tv/books/episodes/page/episode-52) later got changed to remove the [Off Course](https://chaotix.tv/books/notions/page/off-course) songs;
- the Crunchyroll release (01-52)—using the Netflix audio without the [Off Course](https://chaotix.tv/books/notions/page/off-course) songs;
- the 2019 YouTube uploads (01-03, 27-29, 53-55);
- the 2020 YouTube uploads (01, 34, 51).

# Japanese v2.0.0 (Discotek v1)

The **Japanese Discotek v1 masters (v2.0.0)** are an amalgamation of many other masters.

They were used for the first print of the Japanese Blu-rays release (01-78).

A [second print (v2.0.1)](https://chaotix.tv/books/masters/page/japanese-v201-discotek-v2) was later released to fix some errors. Only disc 1 (01-39) was modified.

The subtitles of that second print were used for the 2024 YouTube uploads (01-10).

### Known issues

Because Discotek Media were not careful enough while editing with the 4Kids masters—or because they did not think that the edits were that big a deal—, some 4Kids edits have crept in the final product. The error in episode 35 is unexplainable, though.

The **Japanese Discotek v2 masters (v2.0.1)** are an evolution of the [Japanese Discotek v1 masters (v2.0.0)](https://chaotix.tv/books/masters/page/japanese-v200-discotek-v1).

They were used for:

- the second print of the Japanese Blu-rays release (01-78);
- the 2025 YouTube uploads (01-20)—along with hard [v2.0.0](https://chaotix.tv/books/masters/page/japanese-v200-discotek-v1) subtitles.

The subtitles were used for the [2024-08 YouTube uploads](https://chaotix.tv/books/masters/page/japanese-v111-kids) (01-10).

They fixed some errors found in the [first print (v2.0.0)](https://chaotix.tv/books/masters/page/japanese-v200-discotek-v1). Only disc 1 (01-39) was modified.
